As the Owner and Director of One Rose of Unity, Angelique provides low cost room and board for low income individuals who need a little assistance gaining and maintaining their independence. As someone who has been through some trying times herself, Angelique was eager to help when she was afforded the opportunity to do so, utilizing her spare bedrooms in her apartment to house some folks that needed a little extra assistance. She has since grown her organization to encompass 6 homes in the Oakland area, where she houses veterans, homeless, parolees, and those suffering from various mental illnesses. The safe havens that she and her family provide, have helped many people retain their respect, dignity, and independence, and she is on the path to growing to be able to serve even more of the community. Her story is one of empathy and compassion, and I think we can all use a little more of that in our lives.
