QGPod 36 – Branding

Quality Goods Podcast Logo

Anson and Chris dive into a topic that affects almost everyone on the planet, branding. Chris had the recent pleasure of attending Rakuten Optimism, a conference all about branding and marketing in the digital age. He got to check out some really great talks, capped off by a performance by Usher, whose personal brand has transcended through multiple decades. The whole thing had him feeling pretty inspired, so it led the guys to discussing their own experiences with branding through the years. As sneaker and streetwear enthusiasts, it is safe to say they both have a good amount of first hand experience with brands, and how they have shaped their lives, fashion trends, and the impact they’ve had in the world over the years. We touched on brands that have come and gone, and those who have retained their staying power throughout the years.  Great branding can be an immensely powerful thing, invoking emotion and tugging on heart strings, all in the quest to build a loyal following. We all have brands that we know and love, so perhaps this will spark in interest in learning more about what’s behind some of those familiar logos and slogans.
