On this episode of the podcast, Anson and Chris got to connect with owner and pit master of Ruby Q Smokefusion, Ruben McElligot. As the man behind the smoke, Ruben puts out some of the best fusion BBQ that can be found in the Bay Area. From brisket tacos, to vegan sweet potato and black bean quesadillas, he has taken some tried and true family recipes and injected some of his own modern technique to bring some major flavor to Oakland. Though Ruben is known around the community for his tasty faire, he hadn’t always planned to slang his smokey delights. We talked about seizing opportunities, and putting in reps, because you never know what future endeavors you may be preparing for. We got into the importance of being instilled with a strong work ethic at an early age, recipes that stand the test of time, and bringing tradition from around the country right here to the east bay.
